What are the differences between iPhone 8 and iPhone X?

The iPhone 8 and iPhone X are two of the most popular iPhones produced by Apple.  With a plethora of features and specifications, these two phones have quickly become some of the most sought-after devices on the market.

While both phones offer similar features, there are vast differences between them. This article will discuss the differences between iPhone 8 and iPhone X in order to help future buyers decide which phone is right for them.

Design:

The first visual difference between these two models is their design.

The iPhone 8 has an aluminum body with a 4.7 inch Retina HD display and Touch ID Home button. It also has a single rear-facing camera and the traditional bezel around the display.

On the other hand, the iPhone X features an all-glass design with a 5.8 inch Super Retina OLED display and no Home button or bezel surrounding it. Instead, it uses gesture-based navigation and Face ID facial recognition technology for unlocking your phone. In addition, it has a dual-lens rear-facing camera as opposed to the single on the iPhone 8.

Display

When it comes to displays, there are significant differences between these two iPhones as well. Both phones feature Apple’s Retina HD technology but this is where their similarities end.

The iPhone 8 LCD panel has a resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi while the Super Retina OLED Panel on the iPhone X has 2436 x 1125 pixels resolution with 458 ppi pixel density resulting in much sharper visuals compared to its predecessor’s LCD screen

Camera

In terms of camera capabilities both phones are equipped with same specs – 12 MP wide angle lens with f/1/8 aperture & 6 element lens along with optical image stabilization (OIS), HDR & Truetone flash; but they differ when it comes to secondary telephoto lens (only available on iPhone X).

The secondary telephoto lens used in conjunction with primary lens helps user capture images from 2x optical zoom range that gives you better quality photos than digital zoom available on other devices such as Samsung Galaxy S8 or Note 8  However, since this feature is exclusive to the more expensive model – iPohneX – you may have to pay extra for it if you desire better quality photos & videos from your device..

Performance

In terms of performance, both iPhones have similar processors - A11 Bionic chip - but they differ significantly when it comes to RAM capacity & battery life . The iPhone 8 packs 2GB RAM while its successor packs 3GB RAM making multitasking smoother on the latter model thanks to extra memory allocated for apps & games running simultaneously in background processes.

Additionally, iPhone X packs 2716 mAh battery compared to 1821 mAh battery found in its predecessor which could give users almost 50% extra usage time than what they get from standard version. Both variants support wireless charging using Qi charging mat/pad, however, and a faster wireless charger option.

Conclusion

To summarize, the only visual difference between these two iPhones is their design.

The rest lies under the hood – such as display, cameras, performance etc. Therefore if you're looking for improved optics along with improved performance then go for the newest version the iPhone X. Otherwise stick to its cheaper variant, the iPhone 8.
